Leah 2.5 year update!

Well my sweet baby girl is now two-and-a-half!! I can hardly believe it! I blinked and she went from this chubby little baby to a beautiful little lady. Whoever said the twos were terrible never had a daughter like Leah! This is my favorite age so far. She carries on full conversations with me. She's witty and funny. And she has the sweetest, kindest heart. She loves her brother Chase. She's always kissing him and talking to him and bringing him toys. She's not real fond of him slobbering on her toys though.. She says "don't eat that bubba!" The other morning when Chase woke up she put her hand on his cheeks and said "aww look how cute you are bubba!"
She loves to play outside but she doesn't like to get dirty...if she spills something on her shirt she wants a new shirt immediately. She is stubborn and has a one-track mind. If she is looking for a certain toy (ie a little Minnie Mouse figurine or a tiny plastic flower) she will ask you to find it and won't let it go until you find it! We have learned to keep a close eye on her precious toys. She also has some slight OCD errr organization issues... She loves to line things up and everything has to be in place and if not she flips out. For example if the pillow falls off the couch or if the bed sheets are bunched up in the middle.
She's a great listener. She doesn't do much to warrant time outs but she does get them occassionally. She has to sit on the stool in her room for 2 mins and afterwards she kisses me and says "sorry mommy!"
She is so smart and picks up on things really quickly. She potty trained in less than 2 days!
She loves animals. She loves books. She's obsessed with Barney, Cat in the Hat, and Tinkerbell.
She's daddy's princess and has him wrapped around her little finger. She knows if she wants something to put her hands on daddy's cheeks, kiss his forehead, and say "please daddy?"
Yesterday she told me "mommy, you're my best friend!"
I love that little girl!!!

Chase is 5 months now! He is developing quite the personality. Now that his GERD medication is the right dose, he is such a happy boy! He loves to lay on the floor and play with his toys. He "attempts" to crawl and rolls his way to whatever he wants (usually to get to Leah). He loves his daddy. He has trouble eating during the day but he scarfs down 10 oz before bedtime. He's still not sleeping through the night..he's up every few hours but usually goes back to sleep. He doesn't really take a binky no matter how hard we want him to sometimes. He's 22 lbs and wears 18-24 month clothes! At around 5pm every night all he wants to do is be held. He gets a bath and goes to bed at 7 and by that time my back kills!!
He loves cruising around in his walker. Leah could only ever go backwards in hers but he gets all over the house! He loves the swing at the park and he also loves being outside. Tim and I are slowly forgetting the cries and screaming that consumed the first 3 months of his life. He's turning into our happy little guy and we just love him!!

Leah's Lingo

I was doing something on the computer and Leah came over and was asking to play with the mouse "MOM can I have dat? Can I have dat? Can I have dat now?"
Me: Leah, you need to wait baby!
Leah: mommy! You need to share!

Chase is starting to put Leah's toys in his mouth and she is NOT having it..."Don't eat dat, Bubba!!!" she yells at him. Oh boy is she in for a treat when he starts crawling...:

Say What??

*Updated with new items and pictures (I didn't mean to repost it, just to update it..oops)*

So a few months ago, after Chase was born, I really wanted to get myself a "mommy necklace." You know, the kind with your kids names on it. I looked around and finally decided to buy myself one, even though it was really expensive! When I got it, I LOVED it. Everyone loves personalized stuff! I got to thinking about Christmas and who I could buy them for... everyone! And then the bill started racking up in my head.. ouch!
So my little wheels started turning and I thought, I could probably make these! I did some research and watched a few videos, ordered myself a metal stamping book and dvd, and learned how to stamp on metal! I invested in a quality set of stamping letters and numbers and a few designs and started practicing. Hey, it turns out I am pretty good at it! I have always been pretty creative, and the impatient side of me loves seeing start to finish results in just minutes. After practicing for a few weeks and making necklaces for all my friends and for both grandmas, I decided to take on the world!
I launched a fan page on Facebook and posted some pictures of my work and created an Etsy shop to sell my jewelry. I wanted to keep the prices AFFORDABLE unlike all the ones I have seen on the internet. The quality is still good (the discs are sterling silver) but the prices reach a larger market. Just in the first weekend of "opening" my store, I had 10 orders...and more are coming every day! It is so much fun and very therapeutic (you know, banging hammers and all). And it gives me something to do when my kids are sleeping and my husband is working besides watching trashy TV :)

Here are a few examples of my work.. For more information, you can become a fan of SayWhat Creations on Facebook or you can visit my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/SayWhatCreations

Leah's Lingo

We were out running errands earlier and I realized it was past lunch time (it was just one of those days...) and so I swung through the McDonald's drive-thru to get Leah a Happy Meal. After she said "thank you" to the people at both windows, she asked me for a French fry.
Me: "You can have some in a minute, baby they're too hot right now."
Leah: "You're SO hot, momma!"
This kid CRACKS me up. (OK she may have picked that one up from Tim...)

We were in Michael's earlier and she was looking at all of the fake Halloween pumpkins...
Leah: "Mommy, can I have dis punkin?"
Me:"No, Leah, that's too big, let's find a smaller one..."
Leah: "What about dis one? Or dis one? How bout dis one? (pointing to every single pumpkin in the place.)"
She then turns to the lady who is minding her own business looking at some of the Halloween decorations and she tells her "I LOVE punkins!!" The lady just laughed at her and told me how cute she was. LOL.

There was something else really funny that she said tonight but my brain hurts and I can't think right now but when I remember it I'll let you know :)

Chase's first wagon ride... He was a little wobbly and I kept having to reposition him, but he loved it!!

Showers of Praise

I heard a saying when Leah was a baby: "You should praise your children 10 times as much as you correct them." I have always tried to do this with her. I am constantly telling her what a good job she's doing even if it's something as simple as putting something in the trash. It's just second nature to me because she's such a good girl. "You can do it!," "I'm so proud of you!," and "Good job!" are phrases she hears often. I didn't really notice how much I say those things to her until recently when she turned the tables on me.
I was coming out of the bathroom the other day and Leah goes "You did it, Mommy! YAY!" It made me chuckle...she was applauding my going peepee on the potty like I do with her. And more recently every time I do something, she tells me "Good job, Mommy!" like when I made her milk today at nap time. I handed it to her and she looked up at me and said "Good job, Mommy!" Every now and then I'll even get an "I'm SO proud of you, Mommy!" It makes me smile every time. She's such a sweetheart. And I'm glad to know that my words mean so much to her.
